It always amazes me how quickly “stuff” accumulates. I swear every piece of paper in my house experiences cytogenesis (for those who don’t remember their high school biology – cytogenesis is the process by which cells divide). E-mail does the same thing! I have spent a lot of time the last couple of days just working on cleaning out my inbox for my e-mail. I had close to 2,500 e-mails. I have also been purging the paper from my house. I have discovered that the accumulation of “stuff” stresses me out!! It makes me feel overwhelmed and tired. I hate feeling that way!
After I get though all of the paper, I think I will be moving on to clothing. I have a ton, and a lot of it does not fit anymore (too big!) or I just don’t wear it. Hopefully I can clean out the closets and make some money.
Fitness this week has been bad. It has been to hot (today the temp should reach 110) to really get out side and since I am training for endurance events it is hard to get a good workout in at the gym. This weekend is supposed to be much cooler and I have my final 8 miler on deck for Saturday. This is my last taper run before the Disneyland Half Marathon. We are leaving to DL on the 1st and the Half is on the 5th. I am so excited!! I actually have whole theme/plan for the race and will do a post on it soon.
Well, I need to get back to purging the e-mails, only 504 left!
Dare to be remarkable!

Quick Update
I am only 18 days away from my next half marathon!! The Disneyland Half Marathon!! So excited!! This last Saturday I completed my long mileage day - 10 miles in under 3 hours! This was really good for me. I am not a fast runner by any means. I was concerned with my time because there is a time cut off at mile 4 (1 hour 35 min) and mile 10 (3 hours 10 min), but I should be fine! (Also super excited for my little guy who will be doing his first race ever! 100 yards Kids Race in California Adventures.)
Here is a picture of the race course - Super excited about running through the parks and going through Angel's Stadium!
Last night, I did one of my midweek runs, 2 miles in under 25 minutes!! So stoked about my run!! My husband thought it was just ok, but I know it rocks for me! He just doesn’t see the improvements I have made in my running since 2008 (the last time he ran with me). I have shaved minutes off and my endurance has greatly improved. I have also gotten a better grasp on the mental aspect of running. Just being able to go out and consistently push myself is a huge accomplishment. I do most of my training on my own and it would be so easy to cheat myself out of miles and skip workouts because I am tired, but I have finally figured out that I can do it on my own and that I am stronger for it.
I have also begun training for the Tour de Fresno and the Valley Girls Ride. Yep, I am back on my bike. So far training is going well and the Women on Wheels group that I am riding with is awesome!!
Also, my Salad Challenge is going well. Still loving all the yummy greens!
Dare to be Remarkable!!

Reflection
Today is my fourth wedding anniversary. Four years ago on a beautiful autumn afternoon my husband and I tied the knot. It was a beautiful wedding! We started dated over 10 years ago. I was a young college student and he was a fresh college grad deciding what he wanted to do next. Now we have a beautiful little boy, own a home, both have great (stressful) careers and have a great extended family. A lot has changed in 10 years.
While reflecting on all of this I realized that I was also about 60 lbs lighter when we first started dating. I was about 160 a wore a size 12. I am currently in the 220's (ouch!!) and I wear a 18. Hubby has gained too, but not nearly as much. He was even commenting on some old pictures about how young we looked and how much thinner we were. He was actually so thin at one point during the academy that he was underweight and sickly looking. We just got to comfortable with a lazy lifestyle and now we are paying the price - especially me! We are both trying to better ourselves now so that we have more energy for our crazy little man and so that we can live to see our grandchildren.
This weekend will hopefully mark the start the effort of both of us a couple embarking on a lifetime of fitness. We are doing the EyeQ half-marathon together. This will be my second half and his first. I hope he gets bit by the race bug and want to train for more events in the future. I really need to company out on the trails and I hope this will encourage him to join me.

I did it!!
I finished the Nike Women's Half Marathon!! It was awesome and I will definately do it again. Being there with Team in Training was amazing - just when you think you can't go on someone in purple is cheering you on. Complete strangers come and run with you to support you and guide you. Seeing the survivors there on the sidelines and in the race is also awesome - if they can beat cancer then you can finish a race!! My whole experience was amazing- meeting a great new friend (ANNE YOU ROCK!), seeing our honoree's mom on the sidelines cheering is on, walking into a room with 5000 other TNT members, our amazing Mentors and Coaches for guiding us, my dear friend Jennie for doing this race with me and not thinking I was crazy, my husband and son for putting up with all training sessions and fundraisers! To everyone who helped me along the way - THANK YOU!!
Here are a few pics from the event:
Me pointing to the finish line:

On a great note: I am totally addicted to running! I will be doing my next Half Marathon on 11/9/08 here is Fresno. I am also planning to do the Century Ride with TNT next spring - so be ready for some more fundraisers!!

Changes
Why is it so hard to change? I have been trying to lose weight for years now and yet I am still stuck. I try to change my habits but no - I slip right back where I was. Why is that?
Anyways, I have recommited to Weight Watchers and so far I am doing well this week. I have been tracking all my points and I have stayed in my point range as well. This is really good for me - I just hope it shows at the scale.
Running has been so so. My family does not seem to realize that I have to actually leave the house to run. There is always something that prevents me from getting out. It is killing me!! My husband is cracking jokes that I can always finish the race in a wheelchair or crawling. It is driving me crazy. I am less than two weeks out and terrified! I know that the last 3 or 4 miles are going to kick my butt!!! BUT I WILL FINISH!! I have to - I can't let myself down again! I set goals for myself and never meet them. I always justify a way out. Not this time!! I will do it and I will be proud! Then I will do it again when I do the Trail of Two Cities Half Marathon on Nov. 9.
